Default I would think twice about building your car as drive by wire.

I was always skeptical of the concept of drive by wire but now I am sure I would not do it. There are 4 trucks/suvs in my shop right now in rent cars and might be for weeks because of failed GM throttle bodies and the parts are over 9000 units back ordered. These pieces of crap are leaving my customers stranded right and left going into reduced power mode.

What years?

My '05 Toyota Tundra hasn't been an issue, well not until you brought it up anyway.

Well, if I was using a Toyota TBW, I'd be scared of it sticking WOT. lol

Zero issues with my TBW setup, no regrets.

I see it with all GM trucks and SUVs but the ones that are leaving customers in rent cars for weeks waiting on parts are 07-10's. Mark my words with in 6 months some major news organization is going to do a show on this. Too many soccer moms getting scared to death loosing power while flying down the tollway.

Interesting.

I never understood why they call it DBW if it's computer controlled either.
Very confusing. It should be called Drive by Computer.

I've never been a fan of a computer controlling my throttle either.
That's the big downside of upgrading to a newer LS motor.

Looks like its a really bad cold weather problem. I've added 4 more to the parts waiting list in the last couple of days. I was getting about 1-2 a week. This last week in the 20 degree and below weather we have had about 2 a day.

just like everything ,nothing is perfect ,but for the most part things happen to work lol , I seen acouple of those reduced power vehicles ,but its not a reason to not use it ,you could count the number of people who had their cables snapped on conventional gas pedals too ....that reminds me of "....if you eat this...you`ll get cancer...blah blah"

-27 here last week and no issues.

Edit, here's a pic I took last January. No problems with DBW.

It's not a "cold weather" problem - probably more of a poor maintenance issue if anything. Although it may be cold in Dallas, a large part of the rest of the world has experienced temperatures colder than that annually for as long DBW systems have been used.

I think I will skip driving my camaro in the cold today. It's only supposed to be 56 for a high. BBBBUUUUURRRRRRR
