Default Advice for learning - - Just bought a Canon T2i

So my wife and I have been tinkering with getting an SLR. I pulled the trigger on one for her for X-mas. I've had some experiences in the past that have made me pretty die hard Canon - -So I'm not really looking for advice related to, you should have bought - - -etc. etc..

Can any of you point me in the right direction for learning - -ie: Books, online tutorials etc.. I'm never going to be a pro, but I would like to be able to step slightly above the average idiot w/ an expensive (well for me at least) camera.

Thanks for the input.

Read the user manual and just practice, the new cameras record the settings so you can look at the pics and see where you were when you took the pic. this is a big help compared to the old days when you had to log it down to remember. Use the auto under lots of different conditions and then go back and look at the settings and then go to manual and try to match and manipulate the sttings to get different results. After awhile it will come together.

Learning all the manual settings and what they do will take you awhile but it is all in you manual.

Good luck, I borrowed a Rebel from a friend and it was a great camera and the on screen help is very good once you get used to it.

A buddy of mine that's also a car guy started up a site a few years ago that is just getting out of its infancy.

www.newschoolofphotography.com

I learned a lot through the people there and have developed a new network of friends. Check it out.

Oh, and you should have bought Nikon!

Thanks for the advice guys. I will check out that site. My wife is a school teacher and off in the summers, so she may take an intro to photography class this summer. Then I will have to have her teach me!

I'll try to post some pics once we get the camera.
