Default Ramjet 502/Hughes 4l80e 70 Chevelle?

Hey guys, this is my first post here. I just picked up a nice 70 chevelle that im going to be doing a frame off on. I am going pro touring on this car.

My plans are:

Air Ride
19/20 Combo
Big Brakes
Ramjet 502 with some work done to it
4l80 Trans
9 inch rear end, custom interior
maybe two tone paint

and other stuff.

My first question is what do you think about this engine trans combo?

I was looking at a ramjet 502 and doing a cam, roller rockers, and porting the heads right away. Maybe add a really nice nitrous kit to it as well.

I was also looking at the 4l80 trans as my best option. I want something that will hold upwards of 600hp and be street able. I also was looking at the paddle shifter option.

How does this setup sound?

Anyone have any suggestions about anything?

Welcome aboard.

Sounds like a great combo to me. The 502 has proven to be a stout foundation for killer torque.

The 572 is nice, but i want fuel injection.

I wonder if the Ramjet will fit under an ss hood.

Local guy fit a carb'd 572 under a cowl hood 72 Chevelle. With air carb, intake, and air cleaner I'm sure theres a lower efi intake set-up out there.

IMO, the 502 is kind of old news, but not to worry, Arizona Speed and Marine has got this nifty little number:

The ZZ502 RamJet is stout and a good value. But if you want to kick it up a notch, you can try the 640 hp zz572 above or this 740HP by Scoggin Dickey.
