Default Trunk Gap WOW

Trying to see what is F'ed up. So I went ahead and got a new rear body panel, the org was just to messed up and it took far less time to cut out the org and replace with a new one. Now heres where the problem comes in. The rt qtr was replaced about 8 years ago with an aftermarket qtr, then I got the car and started to cut off the bad stuff they did. I got a new lt qtr and fit it up and it fits much better then the one from 8 years ago, now I changed the rear body panel and it fits up even better than the org did to the new qtr. Now heres where the bad part comes in, rt qtr gap to my GM org trunk lid is 3/16 the gap on the lt qtr is almost 3/4 of inch . So one of two things is wrong, 1. the rear body panel is to wide or 2. the new lt qtr is to narrow at the top going to the trunk. So can anyone get me a mesurement from side to side in between the qtrs going across the trunk opening and also the rear body panel (but must be org rear body panel)???

Thanks

when replacing panels, we almost always have to split the quarter next to trunk and add a filler piece to make gap correct.

On my 69 bird, should be the same the front of the trunk is 54 1/2 in. The rear of the trunk is 52 1/4 in (this at the very end of the trunk opening). Both measurements are from the inside edge. My trunk lid is 54 1/8 in. at the front and 51 13/16 at the rear. All original parts. Hopes this helps.
