Sorry..need to vent. So the wife left this morning on a 3 day seminar for work and took the step-daughter with her. I thought to myself...2 full days in the shop with no one to bug me, then back to work. Should have my car ready for primer by tomorrow. I planned on being in the shop tonight until well into the night. So I make it out to the shop this morning and thought I would use my sand blaster to blast some areas in the door jambs that I couldn't get to. I hook the blaster up and nothing. I starting trying to diagnose the issue and the bottom ball valve (or whatever it's called) breaks.

So off to the tool store I go. I live about 20 mins away so basically waste an hour. So I get back to the shop, hook up the new valve, make sure all the fittings are snug and not leaking and hook the air back up. I hear air leaking. I find out that the air hose from the top of the unit to the bottom has a cracked brass fitting. Guess what??? I don't have any fittings at home. So back to the tool store I go. Another hour wasted. I get back to the shop, get the hose all together and go to try it. I turn one of the ball valves....and it breaks!!!!! I decided not to use the sand blaster and tried everything I could to get into some of the corners in the door jambs. Not going to happen and I realize if I want it done well..I need the blaster. I have a cheap siphon blaster that you put into a bag of sand....that thing is a POS!!!

So..you guessed it....back to the tool store I go. Actually had to go to a different one as the one I had been to twice didn't have anymore valves. So another hour wasted. I get home, get the blaster all fixed and start using it. I find the hose is completely plugged and the walnut I was trying to use keeps plugging the damn thing up. So I empty the blaster and put in some fine sand. Works better now. It would go for about 30 seconds, then plug up. So every 30 seconds or so I'd have to stop, take the tip off, blast some air, start over. I got the passenger side door jambs just about done.

I decided now to use my die grinder to clean up a few areas. Hook the die grinder up (which I just got a week ago as my other one packed it in after only a year) to the air and it starts going like a bat out of hell all by itself. Same thing the last one did. Guess this one's shot too. Then I grab the angle die grinder and thought I'd use it. Hook it up to the hose and you guessed it......takes off all by itself. How's that...two die grinders killed in less than 2 minutes. And they are both Chicago Pneumatics so not cheap ones. I decided to check my air regulator...I think it's shot too!!! I have a feeling that the 100psi that it was showing was quite a bit lower than it was really at to kill three die grinders.

So here it is 10 after 7 (pacific time) and I'm in the house and have already had a shower. I'm just calling it a night before I break anything else. Guess I'll be heading back to the tool store in the morning. And how was your day

LOL man--that was really a good one----thanks for sharing. I had one of those days also---still having it---but you giving your version made me feel much better-----thanks for sharing it. Hope it's better tomorrow for you.

Actually sounds like my weekend trying to work on the car. Posted I would be here but turning off the phones, someone posted it was my B Day, phone rang so hard the speaker exploded, LOL!

lol, I'm glad most tool stores are less than 5 minutes from my shop.

I hear you. Took 3 days off to monkey around in the shop and get things cleaned up before old man winter hits. Get up Monday morning with crippling back pain. Go to the doctor and find out it is a kidney stone. WTF? I have never had something like this in my life. I am in fantastic shape, eat right and this is what I get. The oxycontin he gave me makes me feel like I have had about 8 beers, so to dangerous to do much in the shop other than sweep and pick up and forget where I put stuff down. Just peeing in a strainer waiting for it to pass. What a bitch.

I know, my day started off so good with that surprise. Thanks again for that Frank. The one nice thing about that.....it won't hurt the wallet so bad now when I have to replace both my die grinders and regulator/water filter. Oh well, all I can is laugh and be thankful it wasn't way worse. All in all, it was more of a frustrating day than anything as I'm also trying to get the car into primer before the white stuff hits the ground.

Started the day by heading back to the tool store and though I would see if they would warranty the die grinder I bought two weeks ago. No luck (not sure why not though). I was dealing with the owner's son who had to go and talk to someone else about it. He did give me smoking deals on some new Ingersoll Rand ones though. Got a new 90 degree one and their extreme duty straight one. The straight one kills my old CP one for power. Also picked up a new regulator, much better than the cheap one I had. I finally make it out to the shop and try the blaster again...works better than it ever had today. Didn't clog or act up at all. Got through an entire bag in no time. Go figure That thing is possessed.
