Default Paint first or Powdercoat?

I'm trying to decide whether to have my suspension components powdercoated before I have the body of the car painted or after. I feel like doing it after the car is painted could cause damage to the body or misalignment of panels while installing or removing the suspension. On the other hand having it powdercoated before paint I would have to worry about the over spray. Any suggestions or tips?

Powdercoat your pieces first. When you are ready to proceed with the painting portion of the build, spray whatever areas you are concerned about overspray with Dry Overspray Masking Liquid. Its made by 3M.
We use it all the time. Load it in a convensional spray gun and lay it on like paint. When you are done, powerwash it off...... it suds up like soap and runs off.

Just don't spray raw cast aluminum with it! Chris did that on my car (Currie center section) and let me tell you it was less than fun to get that crap off! Most of the other areas worked ok...but was still a chore to clean off. Perhaps he left it on too long?

Tony... thats interesting. We've never run into a problem using it.
Perhaps because the center section is rough cast its tougher to get out of all the uneven surfaces ? We use it regulary and always powerwash it off with a pressure washer.

I'm guessing he left it on for way too long or something...even the back of the valance, fenders, ect. that was painted black and then coated with this stuff never came completely clean after powerwashing. Yes the center section was the toughest to get clean due to the uneven surface.

If you say it works then it works!
