Default ist gen 350 or 383 for road racing ??

Do I go for rpm or torque . ??
The car is a 86 corvette very low key .
Id like to keep my tpi stuff .
3200 pound 3:73 ,trans is open , probably a tko
Accel intake & runners , ported plenum
Building a motor for next season . Spend allot of time coming off the corners .
I can get more rpm out of the 350 with the TPI , but I can get a whole lot more torque out of the 383 , And it has to last a while
Half the time its on the street the other half is road courses , oval ,and auto X stuff.
Opinons ??

I know its a vette . I work metal all day ...

Always go for more cubic inches.

I would say the 350 is the better option. Sure more cubes is always better but you will have to spend more money on the bottom end. You can rev the crap out of a 350

Average power is the key. I'd opt for the 383 with a slightly larger cam than you could get away with in the 350. It will propel you off the corners better than that 350. Can your tpi fuel a 383?

More rpm? My 383 solid roller can go well past 7k if I wanted. The midrange tq of the 383 will be much better around the track. Solid roller is the way to go as well.

At the time rules said I had to keep the TPI
Probably going to move up in class . Rules are open at this point . any intake
One engine builder says 377 stay away from a 406
He didnt mind the idea of a 350 , Cheaper and rev the snot out of it . But Ive had a few of those .
Buying some aluminum heads , & roller solid or hydraulic ?
I do all the Midwest Road courses , occasional oval

Vegas 69 : I have seen a couple tpi feed 383 s spin to 6200 I know of one in a street car smbl 396 (3.875 crank ) strong one...
If I bought a aftermarket block is seems a shame to go 377 when I could have a 406

350,383 , 377 ??

I have an aftermarket (Dart Little M) 406 -- and I have a 383...

The 406 makes big TQ for a small block (550 ft lbs @ 4600 rpms).... not sure what the 383 is but I'd take either of them and the bottom end grunt over a high winding 350...
