Default Help/Opinions needed!! Long...

Ok, the user name Scatterbrained is not just a clever nickname, I'll state that right off. My interests in cars is pretty wide spread, and I find myself in a quandary....

I recently sold my C5 (got bored with it), and bought a 68 Camaro (350/4 speed car), that needs alot of help. I basically rescued the car from someone who thought he was a mechanic. After getting the car driveable, I've come to the conclusion that I need to put it back into the garage, tear it apart and do it right.

So the plans for this car are to be able to auto cross, drag strip, and road course the car whenever possible. I don't need 1000 hp to the wheels, but I loved my C5's ability to leave wide black streaks on demand (~450 rwhp).

I was going to build an old school 383 and add 8-10 pounds of boost, fuel inject it, mix in a 6 speed, and throw together with some 3.73 gears and pound on it.

After checking out Craigslist (hey - there's still a budget to consider) I saw a couple of "donor" cars worth looking at.

One is a 95 Z28, the other is a 99. I would only be stealing the drivetrains, and parts, not saving the whole car. So here's my problem:

Do I :

1. Buy the 95, and take the trans setup (dump the LT1), and maybe a few other parts like fans, etc., and bolt that up my built Gen 1 smallblock stroker, or....

2. Buy the 99, steal the LS motor and trans and misc parts, and dump those into the 68.

I'm interested in the opinions that you guys have. I'm having trouble deciding which way to jump. Either way, I want fuel injection, boost, six gears, and my classic lines. If you were to do it all over again, on a budget, which way would you go?

I know this has been beat to death, but I'm still looking for CONSTRUCTIVE input, from those with more experience than me. Thanks in advance guys (I think)

If you're going to do an EFI conversion, the LS is the way to go.

Id do all the suspension and braking mods first, in stages, and still keep the car driveable and then buy the 99 for the LS1 swap.

LS1.

There's more aftermarket support for it.

Brakes are better too. (If you can use them or to sell.)

Option # 2 by far. Especially if everything like the harness and computer and
such is there too. Even without that stuff that's still the way I would go.
