Custom Dash

I'm thinking about installing this dash into my 69 Bird. Don't quite know exactly where I need to start though...and I'm working backwards...the car's in the paintshop now, so I'll be installing after paint....any advice? Anyone do anything similar?

looking at the vent placement and Im not sure on the width how much of the dash would you cut up and would it still look the same when you were done modding it??
