Default C5 brakes for 67 Camaro

Okay I messed up and ordered a C5 front brake kit for my 67 Camaro and it will not clear my 17" wheels after all. I just got the kit last night from Kore3 and Tobin was awesome to deal with. I asked him so many questions before I purchased this stuff that I don't dare ask if they would take it back. The kit includes: Red corvette calipers with all mounting plates and hardware, drilled and slotted rotors, Hawk pads, stainless brake lines, and a new mastercylinder. Everything is new. Asking $800.00 plus shipping. I'm located in central ME.

They are 13" rotors. They clear the wheel lip by about 1/4" but my rims have a low profile valve stem cap on the backside and the caliper hits it. Even if I remove the cap it still has a 1/4 lip that the cap threads into. I used the template before I purchased the kit and it cleared fine. I've only had these wheels (Coy C5's) about 8 months and I don't want to buy new ones.

I don't have any pics right know but Ican take some pics later and email them if someone is serious.

Could you possibly grind the caliper, or is that too much material to remove? I have C5 brakes on my 69 with bonspeed wheels that have the same style hidden valve stems. I have stock size rotors, but mine clear. Sounds like yours are more raised than mine. I'm running into all kinds of fitment problems like this on my build. I feel for you...

I have a similar issue with my 18" Coys wheels. The flush valve stems suck the big one. I've seriously thought about having the valve stem holes welded shut and re-drill the holes somewhere else. This really wouldn't be a bad idea for you to consider.

I thought about removing the fins on the calipers but it would still be very close and I'd hate to modify the new caliper and be stuck with it if it still won't fit.

Dont even worry about grinding the "fins" off the caliper at all. Ive done this several times to get wheels to fit around the same caliper. The only down side is that you ruin that fancy new powdercoating.
