headliner installation ?

i want to install my new headliner and was wondering if anyone had any tips or how to. I did one on my 69 camaro but that was so long ago that i dont remember. This is for my 72 Camaro. The front and rear windows are out along with side roof trim.

First thing would be to try and get all the fold marks out,Put it out in the sun for a couple of hours unless you have a steamer to use. When you load it on your bows and install in car work front to back then side to side lightly pulling the wrinkles out, A heat gun will help get some marks out also once installed...DONT CUT ANYTHING ON EDGES TILL YOU KNOW YOUR CENTERED.

On this car the bows in the center of the car are side to side, and the rear and front bows are front to back. Should i be starting in the center and working my way out?

Yes, That way you work all the wrinkles out to the edges, Another tip is to put the screws that hold the visors in there holes before you install the headliner so you can feel them ,Makes it easier to find the holes

A tip I used on my '69, though not sure if it applies to your year, is that I used a few boxes of the black spring style paper binder clips to hold it all around the perimeter while I applied the glue. Made it real nice and simple. I stretched it into place with the clips all the way around to hold it there. Then, just remove a half dozen, apply glue, refasten the clips, and continue all the way around. That way there is always tension, and you can take as much time doing it as you need.

thank you gentelmen. im going to do both things. I just wanted to know what direction to start out with. I herd front to back but i wasnt sure cuz the clips were diffrent in the middle of the roof. Makes sense to start there and work your way out to the front and then to the back and then very last the sides. I wont cut nothing untill everything looks like it should .
I looked for other post about headliners and came up empty. Looks like im the only one asking about this. Maybe someday someone can do a how too on headliners lol....
