Default Hagerty Dropped Me! No one else wants me!

I know there are alot of threads discussing the pro's/con's of the various collector car insurance companies, but at this point I seem to be running out of options! Why? Because I am 23, and got a speeding ticket.

Hagerty has insured my 69' for the past 4 years with my father listed as primary and me as secondary since I was underage. However, they require a perfect driving record for youths and with a speeding ticket - they booted me. Never had an accident in any car, no reckless driving or anything, just a ticket in my now 8 years driving. They were not willing to debate this.

So I started calling around, Grundy, Classic Car, American Insurance, J&C, some random small vendors in NJ, Nationwide is refering me elsewhere.

As soon as they answer I say "I have 2 questions, I am under 25, and I have a ticket" I got past the 25 with one, but ticket sealed it. No one else will consider it. EVEN if I register the car to a parent and me as secondary. I think Grundy said they allow family members occasional driving, but I can't really be listed. My dad doesnt even touch the car, its just me, I need to be listed.

The final issue is that now the only car I own is the Camaro, since I live in Manhattan, I do not have a daily driver and regular insurance (I am on my Dad's). They won't consider me for that either!

This is my car, owned since I was 14 and a foot shorter than I am now! I would like to drive it hahah! Any idea where to go?

BTW - I was paying $250 for $35k coverage...I would like to avoid paying some insane rate for my age either if possible.

I can register in CT with my Dad, or MA with my mom is that makes a difference. Car is in a locked storage facility, under 2k miles a year.

Hmmmm...

Thanks

you sure? I've seen several people who say they have agreed value policies with SF and so far none of them were true agreed value policies. I've been with State Farm for 20+ years for my business vehicles, my agent says they do not do agreed value. They have a collector car program, you agree to a value, pay premiums based on that value, but it's still a stated policy. They get to look at comps in a loss, you may not get the value of the policy if they determine that they can replace your car with a "comparable" one for less than your stated policy.

Thanks for clarifying Jody!

I got a 'no' from classic collectors and MK, just from my age. The All-state agent I got uses Hagerty, so thats out. Waiting on a local agent my mom uses now.

I don't know about the stated value thing, but I can tell you that State Farm would not insure my 94 Camaro when I was under 25 and had one speeding ticket. The local agent jerked me around; they covered my home, life insurance, and other cars and told me they would cover the Camaro when the ticket got off my record. Guess what, it got off my record and they still would not insure it. Burn in hell, State Farm
