Cool LS2 Vats ?

Will a LS2 with the VATS not deactivated have spark to the motor or not. I am trying to start the car and was wondering if the car will start and run for a few seconds then die. Can you spray carb cleaner to see if it will fire? I still haven't had the computer programmed yet. I wanted to see if I have everything wired correctly first.

Thanks.

I think the VATS messes with the injectors, at least thats what it does on the gen-II lt-1's. If you call John at Speartech he will have the answer for you, and he could reprogram the computer if you need also.

I called him and he is going to get back to me on a few other ?'s I had. I also thought it wouldn't fire the injectors but I am not sure so I thought I would ask.

It stops the ground pulse from the ECU to the injector.

I thought it killed the fuel also, but the stock harness has the injectors and the coils on the same plug. Is it possible to that it could be killing the spark? I am going to have the ECM reflashed and hope for the best.

It depends whose VATS patch is being used and which LS2 controller (E40 or E38) and which base factory tune is in there. There are typically 3 and at least 2 of them are different in method. (HPT-EFilive-LS2edit).

VATS overall is a series of steps that prevent starting and each package generally takes a different route. The coils may turn on and injectors may be left off or cycled once with a fire and cut depending on which VATS patch and whether other tests need to be satisfied. Only way to really tell whether something is missing is with a scanner.

The snapon scanner shows what codes are being thrown out but does not show what the vats is doing ie: killing spark or killing fuel. I am going to have the ecm reflashed and go from there unless somebody has any other advice.

It stops the ground pulse to the injector.... they do not fire... even though they have 12v power to the other side of them.

Not always but it will also kill spark sometimes depending on what ECU. If you do not have the vats removed you will not get it to run. If it tries to run a few times it will eventually just turn off the injectors all together. That has to be removed for sure before you will get anywhere.
