It's been a while since my last post of receiving my new wheels and tires; it seems like forever since there's been any progress with my car but I've been feverishly gathering parts, researching, working/saving money/spending money lol
Attached are some pics of recent progress:
Dutchman Street and Strip axle housing and third member mocked up with air ride triangulated 4 link
Rushforth 18" Wildsides mounted
Baer 14" Pro Plus Brakes fit
Complete Air Ride suspension kit mocked up, plumbed and wired for up and down use temporarily
Pics to follow - cut the front rad support and the front left and right inner fenders to build a custom new one (special thanks to the ring brothers and staci for their help and advice along the way - I'm sure there will be many more!)
Also got a Be Cool Rad Module 19x26 with dual 11" fans and the a/c condensor to go with it.
Ordered and received Wilwood Pedal Assembly
Ordered and received my Complete ISIS 3 cell wiring kit
Ordered and received Flaming River Column
Ordered and received a PIAA HID Headlight kit - thinking of going with HID Driving Lights too?
Next on the to do list
1) Save money!! lol
2) Finish up eng compartment fabrication
3) Fit front fenders
4) Finish Rear wheel tubs
5) Order Hood (probably a 67 shelby hood)
6) Order Ring Brothers Hood Hinges
7) Order Vintage air Kit and mock up
8) Mock up steering column and pedal assembly
9) Begin Fabrication on dash
10) Figure out fuel injection setup
I'm hoping to get most of the above done by the end of the summer, give me a chance to save over the winter and get going full steam ahead next spring
Coupling things I'm still thinking about
* Thinking of going with a complete line of electric life accesories - door poppers, power windows and switches - any suggestions/comments?
* Looking at going with a custom sheet metal fuel injection intake - Hogans Racing or Precision Metal Craft - I like the look of either a single tuned port and dual tuned port injection - I'm totally new to the whole fuel injection thing so it's definitely going to be a learning process! I want to do a fuel tank with a submersed "in tank" pump, and have a management system thats programmable by laptop - need two tunes, one for air care emissions and the other for street driving.
* Thinking about going with One Piece Products one piece side glass - elminates the vent window - has anyone used their stuff before?
* Still need to figure out the look of the front fascia and rear tail panel - I'm thinking I might get a custom finned tail light panel made up without the gas cap in the middle - thoughts?
Anyways, hope you like the couple pics and bit of a recap i'll post some of the eng compartment this weekend
It looks awesome! I love that rear 3/4 shot. Will that be the ride height? Will you get a further 2 inches or so lower with the bags deflated? What size wheel and tyre combo did you go with? It's gunna be badass when it's finished.
The rear 3/4 shot is actually about .5" from deflated, right height will be about an inch higher than that - the back is the easy part, its the front that will end up dictating how low I can go. The rear wheels are 18x10 with 4.75" backspacing - rear end was narrowed 2.5" on either side from a stock widtch 67-70 rear end. Fronts are 18x8 with 5.25" backspacing.
Color is actually going to be changed to a much darker and deeper green - the same color as the reactor mustang that the ring brothers built - it's the inspiration behind my build.
After reading the posts on the bmw front seats... it helped me make up my mind on the front seats. I was going to go with Recaro Expert M seats, but they were going to take 10 weeks to make (apparently) and were 1500 each and didn't have any power adjustments etc.
I found a mint set of 2005 bmw m3 coupe seats with all the goodies - test fit them in the car and they are going to fit perfectly! I was going to lower the seat platforms already so I figure I'll lower them about 2.5 or 3" and they'll be exactly where I want them.
Also been working on the engine compartment fab - building everything around the radiator - it's all modeled after the ring brothers reactor and kona mustang engine compartments.
