Default visual inspection of my front LCAs can I go lower?

So I'm getting close to finishing my 79TA up at least for now. The car is going to sit rather high compared to what I would want. However, looking at my front lower control arm I don't think I can go lower. The ball joint is in line with the pivot point for the LCA. If I go lower, the ball joint will be higher and my bumpstops will be that much closer. So, am I looking at this correctly and I can't really go lower correctly? Also, in the future, I would like to keep the subframe but change the suspension components. Do aftermarket LCAs allow the car to sit lower correctly by having the arm bent differently than stock or what?

Thanks

i would say there are a couple ways to go. some of the Tubular arms have a slightly deeper spring pocket(Speedtech) that will give a lower ride height, or you could go with the QA1 GMP kit which allows ride heigth and shock damping adjustment and mount the "T" bar on the lower side of the control arm, allowing a lower ride height, then using the Baer tracker setup to adjust the bumpsteer???

how close is the bump stop to your spring pocket? It can be really close and still be fine, almost deceptively close. What springs did you go with? got any pictures?

It will be this weekend before I can post pictures. I didn't take any when I was looking at the car.

I'm interested in the suspension working correctly versus looking good. Everything I have read says the lower ball joint should not be higher than the LCA frame bolt which is the pivot point while the car is on its suspension. Is that not correct?

Thanks

The SPC lowers from Mark at SC&C have quite a bit of lowering built into them, a couple of inches. Then you can use their spacers to reduce the amount of lowering. Not sure if they sell them for a second gen though. Give Mark a call.

That sounds right. My car has them about even and its very low. I don't think I could lower it any and run it on the street still. In fact im certain if I didn't have the AFCO tall ball joint and its little bit of extra lift, that my tires wouldn't fit at all.
