Get the GT500, it will crush the new Camaro in performance and they will make alot more Camaros than Shelbys.

Not quite.

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...son/index.html

But in regards to collectivity, the Shelby is obviously going to be better.
Personally you should consider a Roush Stage III before you get a GT500.
The Mustang is a fat pig. It's not that great in performance.
It gets its ass whipped by every Chevy in it's price bracket.

If you want to see how the overpriced $86,000 GT500KR does, watch the $9,000 cheaper Z06 beat the snot out of that too.

Hes not talking about buying a new Shelby and certainly not the overpriced KR. An 2007 Shelby GT500 can be bought in the low 30,s with low miles on it as compared to a 40K Camaro. Its comparing new to used, but with a blower swap the GT500 can put down 750HP to the wheels and that's something your not doing in the new Camaro.

So for under 40K you can get a 2007 GT500 that will runs 10's and you dont think that's a great bang for the buck. The Roush cant even touch those kind of numbers, but it will go through the turns better.

The Camaro is also a big fat pig.

Comparing new to used it kind of silly. There are also now bolt on supercharger kits for the 2010 Camaro, so comparing a used Mustang with a blower to a new Camaro w/o is certainly not an apples to apples comparison.

And when the Z/28 comes out the gap will just get wider.

Well it still runs circles around a Mustang in terms of braking and cornering, so its less fat

I agree its not fair to compare new to used, but that is the choices the op is looking at. My point with the GT500 is that its fully forged and capable of much more power than the new camaro even with a blower on it. I'm sure the Z28 will changes things, but given the current choices I would take a slightly used GT500 that has more straight line potential over the Camaro and will hold its value better.
