Default Hagerty Collector Insurance Question.

Hagerty is 'new' to the Canadian market but is now available here.

In the past my insurance policy would be void on any track type event.
Hagerty says they will not even accept the policy if I say I do any track or autocross? I'm also being told if my car was not modified the policy would be accepted, I would just not have insurance for such an event?

I answered the question 'honestly' and said I 'may' be doing lapping events and autocross. They clearly said if I do either event they will not accept me?

Is that the way it work for the US? Seems crazy.

Thanks

I use Heacock Classic.. they even insure me in the pits and paddock area (but not on the track)

Grundy had a coronary when they saw my car had a cage.. and they foamed at the mouth when they saw the nitrous buttons on my dash. lol

Haggarty has always seem reasonable, but they wont cover you even near a track.

I can understand them saying that your coverage is void at those events, but it's wierd to say they won't give you ANY coverage if you do those event.

Like I said, that's why I went with Heacock.

I think in the States they just specify that if you're car is wadded up during a timed or exhibition racing event they will not cover your damages. I didn't think that precluded you from being covered at all though....

I've got Hagerty insurance and I believe that is how it works.
Did you talk to them over the phone? When I was getting my Firebird insured they seemed willing to work around certain things and would let you break thier rules occasionally as long as it wasnt abused.

Thanks I already passed Heacock of to my insurance guy from searching here. I doubt they do Canada? We'll soon see...

It seemed like miss information on the NO coverage, thats why I asked. My insurance broker has never done a car like mine through Hagerty .... he says thats what they are telling him?

I've never heard of ANY company that will insure you at a "timed" event.

When I did Bondurant and Spring Mountain - you could buy extra coverage (Expensive) and it had a $7000 PER VEHICLE deductible... so if you managed to wad up yourself and someone else - you were on the hook for BOTH...

my hagerty policy specifically says you are covered on the way to the race, in the pits, and the way home. Not the event itself. it is spelled out in a specific policy endorsement.

my 08-09 policy

Seems reasonable. If they covered our cars while racing it would be crazy expensive. Especially if they saw some of us drive, LOL.
