TKO600 -- manual or hydraulic clutch?
Does anyone know which would be a better set-up for me to run on my 69? I currently have the stock rebuilt TH400 but I have never really been happy with it. I miss the 4 spd I had in my 64 Vette. Looking at the Hurst TREMEC TKO 5 SPD conversion package for my car, I see they have the hydraulic option for the set-up. In terms of installation, would it not be easier and cleaner to go that route? I want to do as few modifications (cutting) to the car as possible.

There is no reason to go hydraulic unless you must. Mechanical is cheaper and more reliable.

This may sway your decision, I noticed from your signiture you have a set of Dan Lemons built headers, I doubt very highly that your pipes will clear the Z-bar. You can check with Dan, When I had him build my pipes for my 540 he did some sick bends to get around that thing and needed to model them on his own first gen, his pipes for the auto's would not work. The pipes are a work of art, and they sure ain't cheap.
I personally have no problem with either set up and have installed both with great results.

I did talk to Dan and he mentioned that his 506 Race headers are set up for stock linkage clearance. I will re-check with him on the z-bar.

Is the hydraulic set-up a cleaner install than the mechanical?

Apparently Dan says I may have an in between design of th 506's that they no longer make. It looks like hydraulic is my only option. Anyone have any pics of a hydraulic set up installed?
