Default GARMIN customer service BLOWS

I am so sick of companies with crappy customer service. I have a Garmin GPS unit that I bought new updated maps for. Instead of being able to download the new maps, they mailed me the CD. The disc needs to be unlocked with "codes" before I can install them on the computer and up date the unit. What a PITA. I install the disc and it prompts me for the "unlock code" The problem is, NOTHING came in the envelope. Just the disc. Really?!? So after waiting 45 minutes on hold I am told to install the disc, log into my Garmin account and they will "unlock" the disc for me. Well guess what, Garmin's site prompts me for the "code" in order for them to unlock the disc. Are you ****ting me? Another 50 minutes on hold and customer service is trying to figure out what to do now. What a huge PITA.

rant off

Darren

Have a cookie, they make everything better.

Seriously, I have two different Garmin products. I didn't find out until after the purchase of the second one (never needed cust service with the first) that they really suck in that department. I feel for you buddy!

It pisses me off that our Magellan wants $75 to update the maps...... I paid $150 for the unit to start with!!! WTF... I can understand $20 or so.....but come on...

With all the phones coming out with GPS, these GPS only units will be gone in 3-5 years...mark my words

Great Clip, I love technology! That is why I paid to upgrade my stupid GPS so I could have the latest and greatest! I HATE crappy customer service!

After another 60 minutes on hold, (thank god for speaker phones) I was told that all that needed to happen was to log into my Garmin account and it would automatically retrieve the code from the website. I told the the cust service guy to walk me thru it as I had done that about 20 times. He stayed on the line, and low and behold, It was a GARMIN site issue. His tone changed instantly. He did a work around on h and emailed the me the "code."

It worked, and the maps are updated, but I will think twice before buying another one.

Bummer you had such a problem!

I've upgraded the maps on my Garmin twice, including purchasing maps for a trip to France, all with absolutely no problems.

It is when all goes wrong that you discover what a company is really all about however!

Shiny Side Up!
