Default My 71' Monte

Here are a few pictures of it after I washed it. Need to get the chrome trim around the wheelwells on, along the bottom, and around the back glass.

Here are a couple close ups with some flash

I wish I had a bright sunny day to really show off the paint.

Nice looking Monte! The two tone looks great on there.

What's the sccop on the engine, trans and all the other goodies?

Its got a 350 bored .030 with patriot 190cc heads, performer rpm intake, scorpion 1.6 roller rockers, comp thumpr cam, hedman shorty headers, and a street avenger 670.

Trans is a TH350 with a mild stall, hoping to go with a T56 this summer and install some bucket seats.

Suspension is hotchkis springs all the way around, QA1 shocks, 2 inch drop spindles. IT got new ball joints, wheel bearings and polygraphite bushings at that time too.

She's my daily driver and I've done every last bit of work on it myself, including paint. I'm 18 btw.

Very cool! To have done all of that at any age is good, but at 18 that is just great. Nice job!

I bet the new springs, shocks and front end parts made a big difference didn't they?

I am going to use a T56 in my car too. I am looking forward to getting mine going soon.

They made a huuuuuuge difference. The car used to ride like a boat on its old worn out shocks and springs. When the rear shocks were out of the car, you could push them in, and they would slide really fast with no resistance in different spots of the travel.
When I got the new wheels and tires, that amplified everything else, it turned in much quicker and didn't sway like it did on the old 255/60-15s.

20s may not be the best for performance, but mine are very light and the 35 series tires don't flex much at all. This set of wheels and tires is actually lighter than the steel rallies.

I can't wait to feel this thing pull with some 4:11s and a T56. Right now it has 2:73s in the rear!

Oh man! 2.73 s and an automatic has to suck for getting away from a stop light very quick. The new gears and transmission will help a lot there too.

Keep us posted on the upgrades. The T56 trannys are out there for decent prices if you look.

Yeah, it takes a bit but when she hits bout 30 she goes, then in 2nd it hits another small deadspot and then goes all the way up to 100...
It'll be fun to stay in the powerband with a T56 and grab some gears.

When I save up enough cash for one I'll probably look on craigslist, they seem to always be up there. I have to raise the tunnel of my car a few inches so i guess that's when I'll learn how to weld pretty good.

The tunnel has to come up? I didn't know that, it never occured to me because that trans fits in so many other cars without and mods (or very small mods).
Yeah, being able to keep the motor in its range will change the entire car for you. Good luck with it!

I'm pretty sure it does. It didn't in my brother's 67 camaro, but what I've read from other swaps and on Keisler's website, it has to be raised on A bodys. It doesn't look very high up while in the car.
