Default Governments help with Medical Insurance.

So we all heard of how the government wanted to help out people without medical insurance and in March they passed a law helping us out by covering your former employers part of your health plan, supposedly.

Well in January I lost my job in manfacturing and I was offered to continue my insurance through the COBRA plan at a cost to me of $1100/month, well the last thing I could afford at that time was an extra $1100 a month to keep insurance so I quickly turned it down. I still had a week before I lost it so I refilled every prescription I could for as long as I could and set off in search of a new plan.Well in the mean time the Prez passed this law where they would help out us less fortunate, in March(keep this in mind for later). So in April I get a letter in the mail saying that I am eligable for this new plan and it told us that we need to have it signed by no later than the Last of May with the first months payment. So the month of May was us deciding if we wanted to do this, coming up with the extra $380 a month they wanted(better than $1100) ,wether or not we will meet out of out of pocket deductable, etc. So at the last week we decided that it was better than nothing, phone calls to the company making sure it was the price they said, how long the coverage lasted,if things changed from before and so on.We were assusred nothing changed, claims went to same as when we had the plan while I was working, sounds great doesn't it.
Well today I finally get the packet in the mail, was glad to be insured in case something happened to the kids.Well that quickly went away when we open the letter and there was a bill for $1500. A phone call confirmed that yes we do owe them that amount, when asked why, I was told it was for the back dated months March,April and May. They want me to pay for months when I wasn't covered, enrolled or even scared to go to a Doctor.I asked the service gal on the phone who I could speak with about this crap and she told me to call the Dept. of Labour, so I did, know what they told me,IT'S THE LAW. What?? The bill was past in March so if I want it I need to pay the past due amount, Why?? Because IT'S THE LAW!!!!! If I don't want send them a formal letter stating I do not want the plan. So after I hung up the phone a very quick formal email was sent also requesting my one month payment be returned to me.Guess we'll see on that one.Hows that for a big steamy pile of BULLS*@T

WOW!!
That is weird. I got laid off in March and had my existing health insurance coverage continued through that employer. They pay 65%, I pay 35%. (It's actually cheaper every month being laid off than it is while I was working.)
Then again, I didn't have any doctor's visits or emergency room visits at that time. I do my prescriptions through mail, CAREMARK, and haven't had a problem at all.
I hope it all works out for you. GOOD LUCK!

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes.

Assuming that is true, by trying to force you to retroactively pay for insurance in months you were not covered, that is probably the government's way of intentionally increasing the number of uninsured people, to improve their chances of passing a socialized single payer health system.

If you feel like a used sheep, you should.

Do a Google search and some research on Annonaceous Acetogenins, and you'll begin to understand, that the system as a whole, doesn't really care about your health, they care about making money, and retaining power. They discover natural substances that show great promise "in vitro" to efficiently help or solve major health problems, but they don't perform human studies or use them, because doing so doesn't bleed you dry financially. The FDA, the AMA, most doctors, the government, the legal system, are all working in concert to keep health care expensive, and of mediocre quality at best. The sooner you realize that, the sooner you'll take more responsibility for your own health, and the healthier and more prosperous you are likely to be.

The USA spends the most per capita on health care, yet the World Health Organization ranks us as 37th in the world in health care. That is by design, not an accident.

Just chalk it up to another reason I don't believe anything they are telling us... Thier story changes too often anyways...

Run down to Mexico, come through the borders illegally, don't speak the language, don't do anything.... You will get your govt. help, just please thank all the working class Americans, as of now, we are getting laughed at, not thanked.....

Very good post, I fully agree with it.
They just banned the sale of Red Yeast Rice now here in the states because it is a holistic (natural)
remedy for Cholesterol instead of the statin drugs Dr's prescribe that have so many side effects.

Lovely isn't it.......pricks.....it pisses me off. http://www.medicinenet.com/red_yeast...ol/article.htm

The reasons the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has ruled that it is illegal to sell red yeast rice that contains more than trace amounts of the cholesterol-lowering substances and to promote red yeast rice for lowering cholesterol levels.

We just need to get rid of all politicians and start over again. None of them care about anything but their wealth. If we ran our check book like the government runs theirs we would all be in jail. They are all just legal criminals that make way to much money and have a great retirement plan thanks to honest tax paying citizens.

At the risk of sounding like an a$$, another large part of our problem is too many Americans have a pathetic diet and don't exercise. We are killing ourselves in many cases and contributing greatly and unnecessarily to our health care costs.

Slowly killing yourself with lifestyle and expecting the system to pay for it all is only one small step removed from burning your house down and filing and collecting a hazard insurance claim. Only ignorance about a healthy lifestyle separates the two.

In nearly all cases, things like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and the cardio vascular disease that results is self inflicted. There's tons of scientific evidence for this, and there are societies where those kinds of problems rarely occur. Adult onset diabetes (type 2) is another self inflicted condition that is an epidemic.

More than anything, we need a massive educational campaign to teach people how to eat properly, exercise properly, and the health ramifications of not doing either of those.
