A friend of mine took his 96 LT1 Impala SS over to Mike to try and get rid of a skip in the motor. Mike got everything moved around, fired it up and started optimizing the fuel curves. The one thing I forgot to mention is that these factory computers become scrap metal if for some reason the laptop that is doing the programming, or the car's battery system fail during the programming phase. Well, guess what? My friends laptop died right in the middle of programming. Dead factory computer.
Here is where working with a great professional and car enthusiast like Mike comes in. He immediately got on the phone (mind you, this was late Friday) and call a few of the local car parts places. Has a buddy that hooks us up with a used factory computer for $75. Then Mike calls in a personal favor at a local dealership to get a GM guy to restore the used computer with the correct vehicle VIN. (ONLY a dealer can do this). And did I tell you that he let us borrow his personal truck to do all of this running around? No questions asked, just did it.
Needless to say, we got everything back together, loaded a final program and the car runs incredible. Got rid of the skip and also picked up 33 hp and 48 lb/ft of torque to boot !!
Just wanted to say if you are in the Central Florida area, give Mike a shout if you have any LS/LT/Dyno/ tuning or engine building needs. He is the man !!
