I've been doing a lot of research in the past months on making the 1st gen cars handle. First there is some amazing car out there, how can a new guy compare the results of the builds. I'm not looking at the mega buck show cars I'm only a mer mortal. I had planned to use better springs, shocks, sway bar and correct the fr. suspention with the tall ball jount. Wheels must be a 15/8 with a super sticky tire I know that flys in face of the norm. Can thay be compared to other cars. I cant start ordering parts with some idea of the results are going to be. Any experts out what ta take a stab this.

Have you read threw this thread? Read threw the thread there's a lot of options and good info there. Pozzi's web site has a lot of helpful suspension info.

The 15" wheels will hurt you for more than one reason....even going to 16" wheels will help. Why do you have to stay with 15's?

I believe it was Super Chevy that did a test day with all the major suspension companies and the article either just came out or is due out soon....but again these cars aren't running 15" wheels......

I seen a test on tire sizes done on a camaro with 15s , 16s, 17, and 18s. same car different tire and rim sizes. 17s actually came out the best!!

btw the chassis comparison in super chevy is out and yes it will help!

but to be honest the I would ask some of the vendors here they are real helpful and not just out to sell you something you dont need.

you can have good handling with 15"... but its gotta be a race car for track use only... there are still good race tires in 15" but dont plan to get any life out of them or use them on the streets much.

The article that I saw only had two of the cars, it seem that they are doing two cars an issue. I hope at the end they will compare all of the cars together.....

i have a set of dunlop race tires on my mustang in 215/60-15 the grip is awesome but the sidewall is so stiff it takes 3 people to mount them and the comfort is like 17´s with 45 psi pressure...

i dont get this 15 inch either... 17 on a vintage looking rim looks right on those cars, and you still have some sidewall so it doesnt look like o rings..

and post pics btw :-)

ps. your plan sounds good... considder subframe conectors and solid mounts.. that will help wuth the feel alot..
