Default Help me decide (T56 bellhousing)

Howdy folks. I'm trying to find the right bellhousing for my T56 to put in my 63 Corvette.

I bought an aftermarket T56 from Forte's and I was planning on using my old Muncie bellhousing, but once I got the transmission here I test fitted it with my old bellhousing and realised the shifter was tilting 18 degrees towards the passenger side. I have the adapterplate on it now and I thought it would work with the muncie BH.

Anyway, now I'm thinking about getting a 93-97 LT1 camaro T56 bellhousing for it. It would allow me to use hydraulic clutch assembly and 11" clucth. Plus the LT1 camaro bellhousing is 1.5 shorter than the one from muncie, this would move the shifter into a better location too.

So I think my question goes: Can I bolt the LT1 camaro bellhousing behind my old gen small block, also will it work with our the adapterplate? Is the transmission on 93-97 Camaros tilted towards the passenger or does the shifter point straight up?

Thanks for the input!

Jay

The LT-1 bellhousing will bolt to older small blocks no problem. I think it is also mounted straight up, but not sure on that. Tyler (ATS) would know.

Another question: Would anyone happen to know a good source for the Camaro Bellhousings? New or used...?

The answer to that is yes. But we prefer to use scatter shields from McLeod for any performance build, heavily modified engine package or any chassis that is going to be used in sanctioned racing that requires SFI products.

Also-
If you have the retro fit style T56 with a front adapter plate, the stock LT1 bell will not bolt up to the trans. The bell will bolt to the engine, but the adapter plate my need to be removed.

Default Gen V 454 motor, LT1 bellhousing, '93-'02 F-body T-56

I have '95 Gen. V 454 BBC, a '94 LT1 bellhousing and wanting to use a '93-'02 F-Body T-56 trans. Will this combination work? Will I need an adapter plate or will the F-body T-56 bolt directly to the LT1 bellhousing? It looks from the threads above the LT1 bellhousing will bolt to the BBC 454, correct?
