You are correct, it is a new casting by World Products. Basically an SBC block that has the LS style head bolt pattern and cooling channels. Perfect for that SBC fanatic who just wants a much better selection of high-flowing cylinder heads.

That's true, but it also allows one to utilize lower cost reciprocating assemblies available for the SBC, standard bellhousings, front dress, motor mounts and all the other things you normally have to adapt when using a Gen III/IV motor in older cars.

This might work really well!

Another nail in the coffin for 23* heads.

What a cool idea, I wonder what the blocks will run?

Cool idea but with the price of the block you should have just built an Ls series block. The baby has to be 3-4000. Anybody making some seriois power is going to use the LSX block, it has 6 bolt mains and should have a taller deck height and cam height stock.

Nice concept, but does not seem so efficent.

I totally agree, Rodger. I think it's cool from the standpoint of being a new and unique idea, but would never compete with the LSX block.

well in theroy if its the motown block, its going to be comparable to the lsx and the dart little M correct? they claim the motown holds 20hp over other blocks on the market. so now not only do you run a cheaper rot assembly then the lsx, you can also use the pentlyfull ls1 heads on the market that flow wild. if they make it with 6 bolts per cyl, it could be the best block on the market. looks like some of the block has the 6th bolt in it. people are more impressed by the 6 bolts per head on the lsx then the 6 bolt mains. i also doubt it weights more then the LSX, but then it brings up cost.... which i don't know. that to me would be the deal breaker for most.

All I'm saying is that with the added price of the block, which won't be cheap, you should have just run the LSX. The GM LSX cast iron block is stronger then 99% of public will ever need. And is really cheap for what the market charges. Small blocks can handle tons of power with a 4 bolt main, but 6 is better. We run 40 lbs of boost in the outlaw car I run, and the SBC is fine, but the LSX is better. The 6 bolt heads only happen on some LSX blocks not all of them. Some of the inherent advantages of the LSX are in the block. Deck height, cam height over the crank, 6 bolt mains, avalibity of aluminum blocks, etc. I give the small block chevy 10 years or less and I bet chevy does not even make the crate engine any more.

I'm probably going to piss some people off but it is kind of like putting a carb on an LS engine, Why would you unless your scared of the technology.

Just my redneck .02 cents
