Value of a T56 LT1 in need of repair

I found a T56. The guy wants $500 for a 96 T56 w/ 140K. He said the reverse syncro is out, but 1-6 shifts good. Is this a decent deal or should I keep looking? with 140K I imagine it needs more work, but would the cost of a rebuild still be worth it?
