Default Carbon fiber

Does anybody know if you can clear over a carbon fiber hood.MY son wants to buy used one for his car but has a couple minor scratches. I thought maybe scuff it down and clear it.

Yes you can clear coat CF.

In fact, it is recommended to do so... as the epoxy has no real UV protection. Even after regular/normal exposure to sun it can discolor and delaminate from the epoxy breakingdown. You want to clear the panel for the UV properties of the clear itself.

Yep, and even then there can be UV issues if in the sun a lot. On the new ZR1 Vette GM spent a TON of $$$$$$ developing an additive for the clear that protects the CF panels. I think I heard somewhere that the stuff costs $60k a gallon or some nutty amount.
