Got my new Speed Tech subframe

Yesterday I went to Killer Customs and picked up my new Speed Tech subframe. I got to meet Blake(Killer69) and Roger, both very nice guys. I got to see a few of the projects they have on the go....all I can say about the quatily of work there is...

Back to the subframe. If anyone is considering getting a new subframe for a 68-74 Nova/67-69 Camaro/Firebird/Trans Am...I highly recommend this one. I got the bare frame as I already had their control arms and got a smoking deal on a Unisteer rack and pinion kit(thanks to Dark Angel). The bare frame was $1000 cheaper than some of the other company's bare frames. Here are a few pics. If you want to see more pics of it, go to my build thread. Glad to see you seem impressed by it. I ordered one last week and am expecting it to arrive any day now. Needless to say, I am salivating (OK, not really).

Can you tell if there is a big difference in weight compared to the bare stock subframe?

Big difference. This one is about 125 pounds. I was able to move it around the shop way easier and didn't have to worry about killing myself in the mean time.

It's a modification that gives you better geometry with your control arms and spindles. There's lots of threads on here that discuss it.

Yeah they are. I don't think I'm going to have any issues that's for sure.

I'm also going to be ordering the Speed Tech high clearance control arms that are designed for the subframe. They allow a 10" rim with 275 tires on the front. Who'd of thought. Will post pics when I get them.

do a search on gullstrand mod. its basically lowering the mounting holes for the upper controllarms, it gives a better caster gain.. sort of like a shelby lowering of a mustang.. only its on a 1.gen.. .. and the Speed Tech subframe has elongated holes so it in effect has adjustable camber, and caster gain... only it will be a biatch to dial it in....

Is the idea of the slots that you can have the stock UCA mounting or the Guldstrand mod, or is it intended to be infinitely adjustable between the two? Because if it's infinitely adjustable, I agree alignments are going to be painful.

The idea is that yes they are adjustable the upper end of the slot is the stock location and the lower end of the slot is the g mod location, and the alignment will not be a bitch as long as you set the arms in the same location ( vertically ) on both sides. the easy way is if you want More Camber gain set it in the Gmod location if you really don't care set it in the stock location.
if you really want to mess with it your on your own.

it only changes the camber gain. but keep in mind that ride height also plays into it

i wouldn't get too worried about it
