Default Tire help

I'm currently looking for tires for my incoming 18x8 and 18x10 wheels. I'm curious what tires are preferred. So far I have looked into Nitto 555, Bf Goodrich KDW2 and Bf Goodrich TA KDs. I realize that none of these tires will hook up like my MT street radials I'm running, but I'm looking for a tire that lasts longer. Which ones grip the best for straight line performance?

The sizes I'm looking at are 295/35/18 in the rear and 235/40/18 in the front for the Nittos and KDW2's. The TA Kds would be 295/35/18 in the rear and 224/40/18 in the front.

Thanks in advance.

I have the Nitto N555's and NT555R (drag radials) on my Chevelle, which also happens to be on 18x8/18x10's wheels....tires are 275/35's & 305/35's.Not too many miles on them yet so I can't report back on how well the hook up but I have Nitto's on one of my other cars and have always been happy with the ride and handling.

A plus for Nitto is that they are a pretty "square" tire and will allow a bit more clearance then some.

Got them from Jon @ www.driverzinc.com

I have the Nittos on my 66 Mustang (18X8s all four corners), on my 04 Crossfire (18s in the front, 19s rear), and on my 77 Nova Pro Touring Car (still in building phase, but running 18X8s and 20X10s).

Two words: Love 'em. Tire gets good traction, has an attractive tread pattern, has a pretty good life span, does pretty well on wet roads and does well in the road noise department. I've never run the drag radials but have heard good things about them, too.

Whenever we're shopping tires for a project cars, Nitto is ALWAYS my first preference, and I only go away from them if I'm looking for a size that they don't make, which is relatively rare.

They should send me a free set of tires for that recommendation. But seriously, good tire for a reasonable price. I think BFG makes a good tire, too, but I'm a Nitto guy.

That's my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

J

I just got the BFG KDW2 and looks wise i dont think they can be beat..plus they have the rim guard design which protects the rim a bit. I cant tell you how they drive yet cause i havent got the car out of storage...but my dad is a retired rep from Michelin and I had my choice of any tire under the Michelin brand and these are what i choose

BFG KDW2 is my choice, DSE's choice, Air Rides choice, to name a few. Of coarse Pilot Sports are great, just pricey

Thanks for the input guys. I appreciate your replies. I think I'm gonna go with the KDW2s.

Correct you are...flat grey powdercoat on the spokes and a clear p/c on the rim lips.
Got them from Jon Henson @ www.driverzinc.com
