Default Thanks to Speartech, the car is good to go

I ran into an interesting problem with my car this past weekend. I was getting a P0340 code. I had it at a shop and had a friend hook the car to a TechII scanner, and we weren't getting any signal from the cam sensor, just a steady 5V.

After talking to John at Speartech about the problem I was having, it turns out that my LS7 didn't have the factory provided pigtail that runs from the cam sensor that's secured at the oil pan. That pigtail swaps pins A and C, the 5V reference and the signal. Without the GM supplied pigtail, the cam sensor was basically wired backwards and never got a signal, just a steady 5V.

I thought this would be very good info to share.

Many thanks to John at Speartech. Not only are his products the best there is, his tech support is great. He also told me that EVERY harness that they build is hooked to a motor and tested with a TechII.

It always boils down to customer service, and Speartech has it.

John at Speartech rocks.. I just bought three of their super killer grommets to have in the shop since they work so well (and I needed one of them for my AODe Fairlane install)

Great service and product. Glad you've gotten your issue cleared up.

Scott,
Glad to hear you got it fixed. I agree John is nice to deal with. So this means Dyno results soon...?

Thanks,

Yea, it's the grommet they send out with thier harnesses, for a two inch hole. It's extremely hard to find nice gromets this big and they are great for passing large looms through metal. The fairlane had a large loom that needed to go through the floor for the new transmission and this worked perfect.

I will dig up a picture.

Thanks,
I just went out and looked in my box as I got my harness and pedal assy from him. I guess mine did not come with one.
