painting headers?

I have a customers car he has a set of hooker headers there black and look like crap there in nice shape but are peeling I have never had good luck painting headers Ive tried specialty paints even por 15 heat paint and never had good luck, He's a great customer and has spent a but load of money so Instead of buying another ceramic coated set I thought I'd see if anybody has any good ideas. thanks telly

send them out to be coated or more then likely you have a place close by, i had some done inside and out for 200 bucks,

works very very well! a guy I know uses it on his turbo stang and its still lasting.

I have used Eastwoods Exhaust paint with much success. Follow the directions and you'll be fine. We also ran the engine for about 20 minutes, then let it cool down again and then started it back up and ran it for another 30 minutes. Just so the paint wouldn't burn off the first time you ran it hard. Kind of like baking them. Worked for us.

I wouldn't bother trying to paint them either, getting them ceramic coated is your best bet. Also the ceramic coating helps to lower under hood temps as well so will help a little bit with cooling.

I used the vht nu-cast on manifolds that have lasted several years before starting to rust. The car wasn't a daily driver garaged in the mid-west. I've never tried it on headers, but I'd expect the same results.

I used Martin Senior (NAPA) BBQ Black on my race cars for years with great results. Very high sustained exhaust temperatures. Even though it is a pain, the key is recoating every few years before they rust. Goodluck.
