Default need some wheel and tire help

I searched around a bit, but I thought I would post just to see what everyone else thought:

I currently have an 18x10 w/ 5.75 inches of backspacing on my car. Recently, my car has been minitubbed (DSE), so I am going to have the wheels widened. I will not be narrowing the axle.
so my question then is:

How much can I widen the wheels without any fitment issues, and what size tire can I safely run?
What offset or backspace is generally used on DSE minitubbed cars without narrowed rear ends?

Thanks for any help!

oh, also I would appreciate any recommendations on what tire to run.

How does your wheel fit now? That is the starting measurement. With the mini-tub, I would recommend going to an 18x12 and adding the two inches to the backside of the wheel, assuming you like the front space on your current 18x10. If your 10" can be moved out say .50", then a 7.5" backspace will work well.

Tire selection is vast in 18". What tire brand is on the front? Better to try and match front with rear tread patterns.

I think I will be adding the 2 inches as you suggested, then afterwards see how the outside lip fits with the new tires. I think I would like to go a little lower, so I made need to change the backspace a bit. I will try and post some pics when I get my car home from the fab shop.

Thank you for you feedback!
