Default GM A Body Wheel Size

Hey all,

I'm the new guy....

I have a 71 Olds that Im looking to put some larger rims and tires under. I have 15" welds on it now with 325/50/15's M/T Drag Radials on the rear. What wheel tire combo looks good on the GM A body cars? I was thinking of going to 18's with the 345/40/18 M/T drag radials. I have a Procharged 434 small block olds in the car so I need a good rear tire.

Pics of cars would be nice as well.....

Thanks....

Not too sure about your Olds, but on my Chevelle the biggest tire that can fit would be 315's if not too tall. I have fit 305/45-18's and don't think it'll allow any more width at 28-3/4" tall.

The 71-72 Olds' have HUGE rear wheel wells. I could bet the biggest by any of the A-bodies.

I run 305/45/18s on my 71. I had to roll the wheel well lips (and chrome beauty rings) and message the inner wells to get them to fit. These are on 18x10 rims. I have just enough room inside and outside now to prevent rubbing. See my links for pics. Without serious mods this is the biggest that will fit IMHO. If you want NO MODS you should go w/295/45/18 on an 18x10. Every car is a little different so I would encourage lots of measuring before you buy rims/tires.

Oh on the fronts I'm running 255/45/18s on 18x8 rims..these rubed a little too. Had to "mod" the chrome trim ring slightly on one side. 245/45/18 would be safer.
