Default Question on purchase

Hey guys, I'm new and have been lurking for about a month. I am closing a deal for a 1968 camaro next week. I was just curious if you could give a HP estimate for this setup. I'm very new to the game and was wondering what brake conversion is suggested for around $1200. I plan on moving to a 17 or 18 in (maybe 19 unlikely) wheel down the road. Will an 11 inch Baer disk brake have enough stopping power

Thanks in advance.

Need cam specs, unless the cam is stupid big to keep up with those to big heads, to big headers and to big carb, it is not making any power. The good news is you have a great top end for a future 400CI upgrade, but all that stuff is way to big for a 350CI.

180CC heads, A 700CFM to 750CFM (flowing 700 to 750) would be plenty of carb, and 1 5/8 headers would give it some low end torque, where I suspect this thing really suffers. It might sound good when it gets on the pipe at 5000RPMs, but it will be a stone until it gets there.

I hope you wanted the truth.

A BTW, welcome to the board.

I appreciate the honesty. Should I back out of the deal. I was looking to have a drivetrain that was good to go, not a project. Is there a easy fix to correct the mistakes made while building this motor.

No need to walk away. Like Frank said, just get the cam specs. More than likely you are looking at something similar to a classic LT1 350/375 horse combination. An 11" brake will stop that level of power on the street, but you have room for bigger brakes such as 12" If you have difficulty finding affordable, commercially available big brakes, visit the link below for all the answers. Congrats on the car purchase.

Well, as expected it is a big cam to for a 350CI. It is going to be a peaky SOB. Should sound like a machine gun at idle with that 106LC, but that makes it even more peaky, a 110 to 114 Lobe Center would make a much broader and lower torque. With all that big stuff (for a 350CI) and that cam, it is going to make good HP up high (7000RPMs) but hideous torque anywhere. Ever ride a 125CC dirt bike? You now will have the Chevy version of that dirt bike. Dead till 5000RPMs, then raise hell to 7000RPMs.

Probabaly a great little drag engine in a CI limited enviroment, but not a good Pro Touring or Stoplight bruiser at all.

Well, if you put 400 cubic inches under those heads and those parts, you would have a bad puppy. But that 106LC cam is not cruiser freindly
