Default 6.0L LSx Cam. Piston/ Valve Clearance?

Has anyone got an idea about the max lift i can squeeze before needing to notch the pistons? I read many posts here and there on different combos and Man! These engines seem to be able to take over .600 without anyone mentionning notching from what i read!!!

I'm interested in about .630 and [email protected] for my application and am looking for information/ confirmation.

Thanks,

Lead.

What heads are you planning on running? I would say you are gonna be close on PTV(assuming stock 6.0 heads) with that cam you could go something more like a Comp 232/236 LSK lobe which should put in the lift range you want and make some killer power.

Hey thanks Pete,

Yeah, at the moment i'm shooting for the stock heads.

I just ordered the intake (Vic Jr) headers (Hooker s-comp) oil pan and p-up (Moroso) + the mounts.

Next up are the w/pump, cam and some Nasty prformance Valve covers!

I'm also waiting on the T-56 to show up on tuesday.

Did you see the cam you reffered in a particular application, dyno or something?

I have seen a few interesting combos's... Just hard to know if the printing was legitimate...The errors that happen in some magazines are to be taken into consideration so i have my brakes on towards those things a little.

It may fit, it depends on the valve events, and the heads used. I would check for your self the pistons may need to be flycut.

I've got a crane 228/232 .600/.600 in my LQ4 6.0. I have the 317 aluminum heads which were milled .020 and no problems to report yet. She runs good.

I wouldn't go anything over a .600 lift on an LSX based engine without flycutting the pistons. The cam in my 408 is a 244/248 duration.612/.615 lift, my heads were milled .030 and we had to go with the relief cuts.
