Runninga 160 t-stat, Northern Radiator PWM fan controller with 160 sensor, Spal 16" brushed puller fan, 2024 CFM 20.5 amp.
My thoughts are that the fan shroud was restricting airflow at highway speeds but around town, the electric fan and shroud did it's job just fine.
Here's the shroud and fan combo
That's what it sounds like. The only other time I had a similar issue it was a pulley set that spun the waterpump too fast; temps were fine at idle and lower rpm cruise, but got hot on the freeway.

Never went over 180, not even sure it actually hit 180.
If the low speed temp creeps up here’s an idea if necessary. Some shrouds(mine included) have full coverage but where the fan(s) aren’t there are rubber trap doors that swing open during high speed flow and”suck shut due to the fan’s negative pressure in the shrouded area. Giving the best of both worlds.

I looked at the flap idea, based on my surface area, I really only could have added 4, one in each corner, which might have been good enough. . I spoke to some other FFR33 owners who are not running the shroud and have no cooling issues. Since I had to remove the entire front assembly anyway, I went this route. Pulling the front assembly is not something I want to do very often, if ever again... lol

Default 180* Robert Shaw

If the issue persists, look into a 180* Robert Shaw t-stat from FlowKooler.

I just bumped my t-stat up from 160* to the Robert Shaw and everything seems to be much happier.

I have the Robert Shaw 160 in it now. Don't really want to go to the 180
