One of the last gas stops in Texas presented this sweet cap. I sent my wife some random pics later and included this... her response was "nice pics. minus the hat"

We made it to Tucson for a late dinner Saturday night. Rob found the proper dinner spot there clearly as an LS swapped C10 was on the screen in front of us at the bar when we walked in.

After striking out on a hotel room after nearly a dozen calls we trucked on to Phoenix metro and stayed in Chandler for the night.

Rain X came in handy as the wipers were not our friend

coffee shop bathroom wall sign in old town Gilbert - we had some near emergencies I think

If you didn't figure it out already we ran up the road to Barrett Jackson to spend a couple hours there before heading back to CA. Rob had been twice before briefly and I had not so it seemed like an obvious stop for such a trip

Stopped and said hello to Bret Voelkel at the Ridetech 48 hour C10 build. Gonna be sweet when finished. Cool concept he came up with there.

Found some other friends pretty quickly here

It was nice to see one of these actually put together

Meanwhile back in Marfa, Texas....

We took a little longer to get out of that town because Rob noticed the rear sway bar and end links were not really installed properly and were (1) making a nice thunk noise on bumps that we attributed to the sweet air shocks, and (2) putting a hurtin on the frame rail (pic doesn't quite do it justice)

"Bird" the welder.... and project collector... beer drinker... general comedian... husband to the proprietor of the Buns n Roses cafe in front of his hobby hut.... let us borrow some tools...

Wish we took more pics here but between being in a hurry to get on the road and shooting the breeze with Bird and his cronies for awhile we didn't get much. Sway bar removal was a great call by Rob even though Gaetano advised against it. No more thunks and frame rail saved from further damage, and full travel of the rear leafs was restored. Can attest to that improvement above 100 mph.

I think Rob has a pic of Bird's 1600 mile OG C5 he is gonna take to BJ to sell one day.

You have to know on this one that this Prada store is literally miles and miles from civilization... in the middle of nowhere..... so naturally there was some kind of weird wedding or wedding scene being played out there as we drove by at speed
