Default Issues with American Powertrain hyd clutch

I installed a hydraulic clutch in an '69 Dart. It already had the TKO 5 speed in it. The clutch will not release until the pedal is all the way on the floor. This makes it hard to shift even under normal cruising conditions.

I did their measurements and came up with needing one shim (.060) between the collar and the TO bearing retainer. Is this my issue? Does it need more shims? I am using the stock bellhousing also. The pedal has great feel and isn't too stiff.

Any help would be appreciated.

Chris

I've read threads like this one, and it turned out that more bleeding was required to get the air out. If I were you, I'd re-bleed, before I tore it back down.
Every clutch setup is different, so guessing about your .060 shim isn't feasible.
What hydraulic kit did you purchase?

do you recall what the air gap was? sounds like it may be too much.

I agree with Scott, sounds like there is air in the system.

The gap they told me to run was 0.15" to 0.20" with my kit, which is similar. I set mine at 0.15" but have not installed the master in the car yet to test.

I bled the system again. Still didn't correct the problem. So, I moved the rod down on the pedal a inch and it fixed my problem.

Thanks for all your suggestions guys.
