Thanks for sharing a bit of insight of your past Jer. Makes me think back on some good ole memories of back in the day.
My first thoughts were of my brother and I working till midnight putting together a motor on a hopped up Datsun p/u. We'd just finished up putting in the SSS head, cam, and side draft weber but the stores were all closed and we needed a throtle cable. We ended up putting my brother in the engine comprtment to work the throttle and we drove it around the block this way.

Very cool story tracky. One time my friend broke a throttle cable on Van Nuys Blvd. So we had to run wire from the carb and in through the drivers window so we could get home. He steered and pulled the wire & I shifted the car (4sp) The things we did in our younger years
