Eastwood Plasma Cutter - Lateral-g Forums

Has anyone had a chance to see or try the new Eastwood plasma cutter. http://www.eastwood.com/eastwood-plasma-cutter.html For the price, I'm very very tempted to get one. I had a miller one, but ended up selling it. With them backing it with a 3 year warranty, I'm thinking they must have a lot of confidence in it. Any thoughts?

It doesn't specify a duty cycle which would be nice to know. The warranty is somewhat vague and you're responsible for shipping both ways.

Harbor has a 240v only unit at similar cost:

If you have a local HF store it may make the warranty process easier if needed.

I've decided not to buy a plasma. If I bought a plasma, I was going to try and fabricate some tools, including a brake. That was going to be the main reason to buy a plasma right....to help make other tools. I already have several other options to cut steel, including an oxy/acytelene torch so I can definitely get around not having one. Yesterday I went into one of the local tools stores and got talking to the owner. He made me some pretty good deals that I couldn't pass up. Now I don't have to make them, since I have them. They're still in the boxes so I just took some pics from their website. The brand is Magnum. Not sure where Magnum falls in the tools world, but so far I'm impressed with the quality. The steel is very heavy duty and the pieces seem to be good quality. I got all 3 for just under a grand, which was about half the regular price (I shop there quite a bit) so that helps.

Heavy duty shrinker and stretcher with stand

Bead roller with 15" throat

These will come in very handy soon when I start the custom console.

+1 My first real tool buys were from the SnapOn and Cornwell trucks at the Porsche dealer I worked at as shop hand and detailer in '76, I still have and use all of them. I haven't made too many bad tool purchases even the cheap import stuff has it's place from time to time.

Now I have mini-break evny.

Plasma cutter is one of the best investments I've made in tools for the shop,mine is Esab,though.

I love the one I had, and I still think I will get another one. I'm just going to wait until I can fit in a Miller one again. I really don't want to take my chances with the unknown cheap ones.

I would love to have a Lincoln or Miller plasma cutter but all my money is currently going into my project. A couple of months ago I bought a Lotos off ebay for $375.

This may be a cheap Chinese plasma cutter but it really works well.
