Picked up a few new toys - Lateral-g Forums

I am really posting this for some advice. I purchased a CNC router table. I know it's not as trick as a waterjet or plasma, but it will do some things I need it to do. And besides can you really beat $250?
Software is the question. Are there any suggestions for a cheap alternative to software to learn on before I have to dump some cash on an expensive program with too many variables to learn the basics on?

Second pick up. What the heck, same price, just a vertical bandsaw.

Hopefully there are no red x's.

You can get 3 axis cnc software for routers and plasma on ebay for fairly cheap.
As far as learning curve, not sure never used them. I had a plasma cnc table for a couple years and recently sold it. The software was very basic and easy to use.

What do you plan on cutting with that table?

That's a big bandsaw!

Never thought about eBay, thanks. I am gonna hit up a few friends first.

I will be cutting mostly MDF, lexan, and various plastics and things of that nature.

The blades on the bands are 19.5 feet long.

wanna hear something funny? i have a bandsaw just like that one! mine wasnt complete so im gonna convert it to an english wheel! you know how old yours is? does it say the manufacture on it? i think yours might be a tad bigger tho.

The only markings on it are C.B. Rogers co.

I think it's 1940's ish. It has wood bases for the upper and lower wheels. I too thought about making it either an english wheel or planishing hammer. It certainly has the backbone for either. But who knows. It's functional at the moment so it will stay that way for awhile.
