Default Aftermarket column mounts/issues first gen..

I have a flaming river column Im putting into my 68 as we speak, and Im wondering if there is a company that makes a tilt column that just bolts in?? Issues are....The factory column has mounts welded to it that are basically just pieces of metal with threaded holes for the bracket closest to the steering wheel to bolt to. Also the diameter of the flaming river column is smaller then factory, so the lower mount wont tighten against it, and the wiring plug on my car is in a half circle curved shape, and the FR one is flat, so wiring has to be spliced. I can fix all this stuff, but damn everytime I turn around its get out the plasma cutter, the welder, the grinder.....!! I was hoping to bolt it in and steer with it lolz....

PS - Flaming river makes a factory "adaptor" for that:

I just used a factory tilt unit. bolt right in and steer. I got it from Columbia Parts Company, when they were in Gresham.

Thanks for the reply's.. I just made some brackets to solve a couple problems, that wiring harness adapter is cool.. for 50 bucks it should be I guess hahah.. I got a good deal on this column so I figured id just make it work.. I kinda wish I had just bought the ididit from the beginning though. The flaming river one seems to be a nice product, all my factory knobs and arms went right on so it looks fairly oem...

JCG makes a mount that attaches the column to the dash.. Using it on Track Rat.. It's made to fit a flaming river/ididit type column..

Is this what you mean?

Having just installed this Ididit in the 69 yesterday, thought I would post up a pic. The center bracket attaches to two welded tabs already welded to the column to accept the factory bracket for a direct bolt in. The lower clamp/bracket at the firewall and the factory boot fit the column perfect. The main connector is also the flat type, In an after market column I dont believe you will find the curved style connector shell to match the factory harness. Cant complain about the install it was to easy.

ya that is a nice column, I looked into those and they are a little spendy for me but it's really as good or better then an OEM one.. I also discovered that the plastic cover that goes around mine under the instrument cluster is bigger then the flaming river column so it leaves a pretty big gap around the column...yeesh...
