Default From Subaru STI to 67 camaro....

Hello members!

I've been on this site for around a month now... and WOW, I've learned a lot. Like the title said, I came from a 05 subaru STi. It was sponsored and was a fun car to drive. But then all the contracts and obligations with sponsorships became a PITA. I couldn't drive anywhere without getting harrassed by CHP by being a "rice rocket". I'll attach some pictures of it. Most of the subaru was carbon fiber (trunk, diffuser, fenders, etc) or had a one off part from japan. It made 335 hp to the wheels and 361ft/lbs on a mustang dyno.

So I got this 67 camaro as project car. I know it won't handle like my subaru but I wanted something with some history and I can't go wrong with a 1st gen camaro.

The plan for the camaro is to make a pro-touring machine that I can take to autocross and it'll be my daily driver!

Happy holidays everyone

-Dan

Litte Suburu looks nasty. Had one beside me at a stoplight last night sounded like it was on tilt. Major turbo whisttle and a dual exhaust sounded mean. I am a All American guy but have much respect for those cars.

Your going to enjoy the respect the Camaro will get.

I agree, the 510 is pretty cool. I had one years ago and have always had a soft spot for them. Maybe someday there will be another one for me. A buddy had one with a turbo rotary in it, THAT was a fast car.

Dan, your STi looks bad ass.

What are your plans for the 67? I see you like black.

I do like black I just wish I didn't get that white bumble bee stripe in the front because now I have to be careful with the color rims I'm trying to pick for it.

As for the plans, I just got the LS1 motor in and wired up.... I'm getting the VAT taken off the ecu this weekend and hopefully it fires up for more than 5 seconds. Um, what else is there?

-Rock valley tank
-painless wiring
-autokraft pan and mounts
- hooker headers
- and I can't think of the rest of the stuff right now.

Probably going to go with Kore3 or wilwood brake system when I decide on the wheels I want...

Just trying to take it a step at a time... this is all different and a learning process for me

the datsun had a 2.0 liter sr20det engine from japan. It really never got the tune it needed but the engine and the gt30 turbo made 390wheel around 15psi on a mustang dyno.

heres a engine picture:

I'm going to lay down some sound deadener this week and hope for some more parts to come in.

I'm still stuck on wheel selection driving me insane!

i'm a in dilemma right now... I might need to sell the car so i can get a car for grad school and my mother just gave me a ultimatum to finish the car in two months because she wants it out of the garage. which means i need to get it drivable or i'm leaving it on the street

what do you think it's worth if i need to sell it... i have it on craigslist right now for around 18k obo... but some say its high, some say it's ok because the engine runs and it only needs couple more steps.

And are there ways to make these cars harder to steal just incase I have to park it outside? power locks? power window? hood pin locks? fuel shut off? (a PM here would be better).

if you hear anyone with any used parts.... let me know. I need a rear end with posi and 3.73 gears or someone to rebuild my 10bolt, 18'' rims to fit some sl-6 brakes from wilwood, gauges, intake pipe for ls1, maybe front seats, upgraded suspension parts, steering wheel.... and i think that is all i need to make it drivable.

but did do some work on it... laid down some sound deadener... still trying to work on it to keep my hopes up

Thanks,

Dan
