Default Supercar Sunday Cruise shut down.

What a bummer. This was an incredible cruise on Sunday mornings, the last Sunday of every month being the biggest. I've seen real cobras, F40s, Veyrons, some priceless cars at this event.

Quote:
Well, I noticed some guy getting heated up in a conversation with a dude with a dog. After the guy left, I spoke to the dude with the dog. Turns out, [the guy he was arguing with] is the "messenger" from the law firm hired by the property manager. He approaches people with nice cars telling them that there's no more car show and they have to leave. If anyone has beef with him, he serves them papers. I think the papers are some notification of intention to sue or something.

Anyway, he told me that because of liability (insurance) issues, the property manager does not want the meet there anymore (2-300 fast cars, 1,500 spectators). The guy said that they are going to evict VCR and ultimately shutdown the whole meet.

I kinda understand, but, like you said, the way they are going about it is bad. But I wouldn't be surprised if they are well within their rights. Not practicing grace in these matters can't be against the law. In fact, they probably found the cheapest thugs they can hire. The ruder the better.

Too bad this is how it's turning out. Looking at it the best I can from both sides, in the end, the property manager has every right to do what they need to do (whatever that is). Too bad it's been polarized like it has. Apparently there was quite a bit of drama last week.

Some of the cars I've seen at the event...

real cobra

Bruce Meyer's super rare toy

Real shame it was shut down. Apparently 2 business owners complained about the event even though the event occurred while their businesses were CLOSED. The event occurs Sundays at 7am, their businesses didn't open until 10am.

Clowns... I know every time I've been, I buy coffee and a bagel from the local coffee shop. What a shame.

that sucks. its not the only place thats happening. even here in lowly tucson, a couple local businesses have shunned meets and get-togethers in tehir parking lots, even though the space is never used and nothing "illegal' ever happens. just avid car fans young and old meeting to talk shop.

Ugg.. that meet is usually wrapped up by 11am on a Sunday morning, long before any of the business there could see an ill effect from the crowd. Some business' there have profited from the crowds, VCR, the cafe, McD's, etc...

Real shame.

Wow, some great cars there. Too bad the business owners only care about the dollar.

A bunch of angry, rich guys with multi-million dollar cars? Yep, their attorneys will beat the shopping complex's attorneys. Hell, I bet some of those car guys are attorneys. Lawsuit cage match!

Sounded like a Subway restaurant complained about it. looking at it from the complex owners perspective to loose a tenant like Subway would probably affect his income alot more then a car show would. I would hate to be in his position and side with the tenant vs the car owners and the customers they bring.

Because of the location, there are many studio types there. But all in all the crowd is very diverse. Shows the common bond among car guys, no matter how much they have in the bank.
