Default Lq9

why dont more people use the lq9 engine in there fbody? they are a lot cheaper and they make good horse power. is there a reason? if anyone knows please tell me

Well... weight is an answer to that question.

Not to mention that an LQ9 long block runs right about $4300-4500... and a complete crate LS2 runs right around $5500. After you get a manifold, injectors, coils, fuel rails... etc etc... your are right at the same as an LS2, or even a little more. Also not to forget, that the LS2 makes more power right out of the crate.

Anyway you look at it... if it's an LS or an LQ... your looking at about $8k for something that makes 500'ish HP. The LS just does it with less weight.

If you start buying used though, the iron ones are significantly cheaper...

I have a line on a low mi LQ9 right now for a good price. I'm holding out for an all aluminum, low mi L76 . Maybe I'm crazy but I would also like to make the DOD and Variable valve timing work with a manual trans [Muncie]. Gotta talk to an Ecm guy. Any suggestions?
