Default clear coating polished aluminum?

Im polishing up an aluminum hood to a mirror finish and wanted to know if their was something like a clear coat to keep polishing down to a minimum, since leaving bare aluminum out in the elements would be alot of work to keep it looking nice. and i dont think normal clear coat will hold up since the clear wont have anything to bite down on and grab since its gonna be soo smooth. any ideas??

Default Polished aluminum

POR 15 makes a clear coat to go over polished aluminum. Never tried it though.

IIRC, Zoops makes something that seals polished surfaces as well.

I have some under hood components that are clear powder coated and while they still look good they dont look great.

I know that the exterior trim on my camaro is polished and looks good for years and that is clear anodized.

may be an option.

well their is also gonna be paint on the hood. the polished aluminum is gonna be kinda like a big stripe in the middle with black on the sides so powder coating is out of the question, and also the budget. this is on a dodge magnum nothing really kool.... lol but thanks for the replys ill check out por15 and zoops.
