I hve been asked to doa twin turbo setup on a 65 mustang with a 5.0 in it and ive been scratching my head about how to fit everything and the idea of mounting the turbos next to the bellhousing dawned on me.. but will i need to go down in turbine size to compensate for any heat loss in the longer tubes, also how do i scavenge the oil... what kind of dry sump/scavenging pump is needed?? will the cold side pipes be too long for a front mounted intercooler?? how far backcan i mount the turbos without sacrificing to much drivability??

there a company that sells a kit the mounts the turbo as far back as the muffler on a camaro, they use a scavanging pump to push the oil back,
one of our cust has that set up on a dodge pickup its not a big gain but some where like 200 hp and he been runnig it for a while and we never see a problem
do a goolge search and you should find something,

I had an APS twin turbo kit on my GTO, and the under-car setup works awesome. A pair of GT28's they use will support over 700 rwhp, and the GT30's will support 800+ rwhp. They do use a scavenge pump to return the oil to the pan. The underhood heat is actually less than stock as they wrap the manifolds. Boost is instant and I've been thinking it would be a great way to go on the older muscle cars.

that is exactly where i thought about mounting them... there are some electric scavenge pumps on ebay that claim to withstand up to 300 deg, so i guess its just a question of making two pieces of pipe between the shortie headers and the turbos...
ill send the pic to the guy and see if that doesnt convince him.. and ill just wing it from there :unibrow:
thanx for the help guys

and you could do the sleeper treatment like this guy did

that car is sick... love the water to air IC in the trunk... not sure how sleeper it will be with a fuel injected 5.0.. but it will certainly be cleaner.. way cleaner with the turbos under there

Try STS, my dad plans to use the LT1 Camaro kit on his El Camino, which has an LT1 from a Caprice cop car! They're rear mounted and are also the mufflers. And with low boost you don't need an intercooler.http://ststurbo.com/home

STS kits do work, but realize they have more lag than a forward-mounted system. I know the late model GTO guys jumped on them when they came out, but after more kits like the APS above were available there was a lot of the STS kits for sale. They all wanted less lag.

I have a friend that mounted twins turbos there on a newer Camaro. The heat at his feet was pretty bad, also made it pretty toasty inside the car when he dove it more than 15 minutes. Other than that it worked okay, just cost a good bit more for the turbo oil scavenge system instead on gavity drain.
