This is another project we are currently doing right now. Pete sent us his car to us to build him a badass custom turbo kit. While it was here we also installed a full DSE rear suspension. Pete decided to let us finish the car for him and we will be delivering it ready to rock the streets of Miami.
Pete's car came to us with a small dent on the top edge of the driverside front fender. We we're so impressed with the work Jory did on the Red Witch that we decided to send Pete's car over to Jory's Race and Custom, and let him work his magic! While it was there we had him give Pete's paint a "quick tune-up" to fix some spots on the car that weren't up to par with the way this car is turning out!

This car has a 370 inch forged LS1 ready for a heathly dosage of fresh air! We chose to use a pair of Precision ball bearing 67mm turbos on the Camaro with twin 44mm wastegates. We had the turbo kit electro-polished to add to the "sexyness" of this amazing convertible!

What happened to the fender? Is this not the same car Frank partially finished a few years ago?

Pete is service manager at a Chevy dealer and was keeping it there, covered while gathering funds to finish it. Apparently someone at Petes shop droped something pretty heavy on it, which Pete found when he uncovered it. Pete called me in a panic a year ago about it. I told these guys to just go ahead and handle instead of shipping the car back and forth as it sounded like they were very capable of fixing it.
I will be glad to see it finally done, it has been a long journey for Pete. Kinda sorry we missed Autorama and Year One, but I am sure we will find a nice debut for it.
Turbo system looks great guys, I also like the black core support better then the yellow.

Yes the stance is killer. We channeled the martz chassis into the car to give it a nice stance without killing the suspension geometry

Yeah... this is the same car frank did all the body work on. Car has some really trick stuff done underneath as you guys can see. We have been in charge of plumbing the entire car and changing the rear suspension over to the DSE Quadralink. Like Frank said.. rather than ship this car all over the nation, pete has decided to have us return the car completed. Were going to be having a guy make a new Convertible top that is made of the same material as the New Corvette's. Should be a really bad ass looking car when it gets all complete. It's going to have custom rear seat panels with speakers built in as well as the door panels will be one of a kind with speakers. The back seats are going to be the same style as the front but clearanced for the tubs frank and crew installed. Can't wait to keep the progress on this car rolling... it's turning out awsome!

very nice work =) We've got a Camaro we're building as well. I challenge you to a dual! j/k :_paranoid  Make sure to change that 427 badge out =)

Nick--
dual huh? Hmmm.... Sure why not... Let's run it. Im always up for a little challenge! LOL!! Are we allowed to have you guys make us some killer CNC peices?
We can't change the 427 badge out just yet.... there are some rumors floating around in pete's camp that he has a big inch motor going in the car once it's all up and running with the "small" motor. Should be interesting rolling with the top down in miami smelling nothing but roasting tires! :drive:
Man.... can't wait! It's 2:30am and we just finished up the back seat design... off to get covered to match the fronts! I'll post some pictures up when they get back.

Very cool to see this car come full circle. I remember working with Pete back in '04 and he's even partly to blame for my unhealthy addiction to boost. The car looks amazing. :)

Man, that is some serious work on that car! Looks great. I;m sure it's worth the wait.
I LOVE that intercooler set up. Very creative.
One question though, why go with such small turbine housings on those twins? They are restricing the compressors.

They are a .81 A/R housing... for the cubic inches and how much power were trying to make, they should work pretty well. Why do you feel they are to small?

i was just comparing them to the compressors. In the pic, the compressors look much larger.
The turbo specialist I use usually reccommends a more matched set-up.

The turbo will spool faster, without as much heat.

How much power are you trying to make? And in what rpm range?
.81 67's... what wheel is in it? Those header primaries sure do look big to be feeding those turbos.
My only concern is the intercoolers not being big enough... and with all that room why 3" downpipes?
Enough ball breaking. Beautiful car.

It's not the size of the turbo that makes a car go fast... it's a well matched combination. just because the physical size of the turbo is bigger, does not mean it's going to go faster.
The turbo is a PT67 Tangential turbo running an H cover with a P-trim wheel, .81 A/R. Yes....we could run Bigger turbo's and have the potential to make a billion horsepower. But for a street car, that will mostly see street duties, why put turbo's on the car that will be unhappy at 15lbs making 1000hp? These 67's on the 370ci motor in the car will make bad ass power from 2800rpm-6500rpm. We have no intention of spinning this car to the moon. Pete wants a bad ass street car... not a bad ass race car. He will have no problems putting 900-1000 to the tire with this combination.
Twin 3" downpipes are way more then enough for this car... This is also going to help the car spool faster, yeah it may hurt it at high rpm.... but by that time... im pretty sure pete is going to be happy with 1200hp! :wow:
And... when he puts the 427ci motor in the car next summer... a 76GTS swap will be a direct bolt in.
No point for the big turbo's, we'll take the quick spool time and added fun factor on the street. there will be no turbo lag with this bad boy ;) :woot:

I'm running the same turbos on my 402 LS2, for the same reason. I'll gladly give up the extra 200 hp up top or more to have much less lag and more power than I can possibly use anyway.

I've found going to bigger hot sides/wheels doesn't effect the spool time as much as you would think, providing the rest of the system is reasonably well designed. The efficiency and torque curve are muuuch nicer as well.
smaller downpipes making it spool faster? That's about 180 degrees from everything I have personally experienced. My thought was exactly that, it's a street car and he wants it to spool relatively quickly, but without being overly brutal. Going from 3" pipes to 4" made the twin .96a/r 76GTS (on a 510ci V10) spool just under 300 rpm quicker and picked up 150rwhp. Essentially free HP is good stuff.
I don't ever build a car for peak numbers, it's all about the area under the curve and holding the torque as long as possible.
I'm not Tom Nelson or Mike Lefevers, but I did manage to put down 1496rwhp @ 25psi with a hydraulic roller V10 with a stock intake manifold and a 6200rpm rev limiter. And just under 1100rwhp @ 12psi on 93 pump.

And out of curiosity, do i know you?
those 76's on your 510 ci motor are going to act just like our 67's on the 370ci motor. your pushing almost 4L a side... were only pushing 3.2 or something. So we in turn should have almost the same response that your car does. Either way... the car is going to rock out and be fun...... Also... I may have said the downpipe thing wrong... it won't help spool time, it will increase backpressure upstairs hurting high end numbers. (my bad... typing to fast)
This was a post to show off some craftsman ship we did on pete's car.... I don't want it to turn into who's smarter about turbo's. We don't know everything about them... we know a lot, but not everything. Check out our website though..... we have also had some very good turnout's with the turbo car's we've put out.
Back to the post now...

Didn't mean to get way off topic. The car is very nice and I am sure the owner will be more than happy.
The turbo in the pic i posted is only a T04. So, by no means am I suggesting a larger turbo. It's all about the match up of compressor to turbine.
From what I've seen, larger downpipes (4"), and better matched (larger) turbine housings create more boost, and spool faster. I just noticed that the hotside looked a little small in comparison to the compressor.
Those intercoolers should be fine, I mean the fact that there are two of them, plus they are right out front, nothing blocking them from fresh, cold air.
I really like the craftsmanship of the peripherials in the engine bay. The hardlines for the master cylidar look GREAT! Nothings makes me all warm inside like a clean engine bay!!
