Dynoed again this morning. My last numbers were 560 rwhp and 597 rwtq with a built motor, heads, cams, KB, 100% stock exhaust, and 19 psi of boost. I have had a full exhaust in the past before this engine and was not happy with the noise. But after seeing my dyno numbers and the fact that it felt down on torque, I purchased a Dynatech LT set, twin cats, and Bassani BX cat-back. I also bought the Bassani baffles that go in the tips. My first surprise was that this LT setup was much quieter in the truck than the same basic setup I had earlier. There was one difference, the original setup used the stainless Bassani cat-back and I now am using the coated steel one. I am positive it's quieter, and I'm saying the steel unit transmits less noise to the interior than the stainless one.

To the numbers. With the LT's I couldn't get exactly 19 psi with the pulleys, it either made 18 or 20. So I did a pull at 18 psi with the LT's and made 590 rwhp and 635 rwtq. So a pound less boost made 30 rwhp and 28 rwtq more. This is my street tune with alky, 15 degrees of timing.

Then I pullied it for 21 peak boost. This was on race gas and 20 degrees of timing. It made 621 rwhp and 708 rwtq. :unibrow: I made one pull without the baffles and one pull with. It actually made more hp and torque with the baffles but it was so close it could just be in the dyno itself. The baffles are good for a little more noise reduction in the cab, and cost no power at the 600/700 level, so I will be running them all the time.

Damn Jody that's awesome. I could get myself into real trouble if my daily driver carried such a big stick.

WOW that much power for a daily driver. Incredible.

What's incredible is there's more in it. Most of the guys with a built motor like I have are running 24-26 psi on their race tune  , I'm stopping at 21 psi (for now!). :D It's also only 330 cid, pretty small V8.

Damn! Thats crazy, Jody. You'll have to take it to the track once to see what it'll run.

so, let me get this straight

your daily driver runs off alcohol

does that mean you could carry white lightning in the passenger seat and just pawn it off as gas? :D

honestly, your truck is a-w-e-s-o-m-e, even if it is a Ford

I can't believe how big those numbers are with only 15 degrees. Just how small is the chamber?

Congrats! :hail: :morepower

Bill,

There's guys in that power range running high 10's. My guess is low 11's with slicks.

I have no idea! Stock WOT timing on these trucks is only 12 degrees. The modular motor design and overhead cams makes this one a learning experience for me. Best part is I tune it myself with a cool program that gives me control over the factory computer.

By alky I mean alcohol injection. Except in race tune it runs on 91 octane, the alcohol injection allows more boost/timing.

I would have bought a Chevy if they made one that runs like these, believe me!

everythings so clear to me now

and I know about the whole Ford thing, Chevy's SS handles like it's on rails because of the 4wd, i just wish it were... well, I wish it had a different T-case where you could go from 2wd to 4wd, maybe an np231 or such

that and maybe a turbo

or supercharger

or anything above 345 hp...

Congrats Jody! Those are some wild #'s through the factory exhaust.

Do you have the graph? :unibrow:

Todays dynos were with headers, cats, and cat-back. The older 560 rwhp and 597 rwtq was with 100% stock exhaust.

Still thinking how much better these would be with a turbo (no, I'm not kidding!) :D

That is INSANE Jody!!! My first guess is gas mileage is not an issue, but being a daily driver and with gas so high, what kind of mileage does it get?

It actually gets the same mileage as it did stock, which isn't great. About 13 mpg around town and 16-17 on the freeway.

That truck looks amazing and i'm sure it runs even BETTER!!!

Looks alot like a model my gf built earlier this semester to match the truck she wants in real life. She probably wont get it for a few years atleast but until then we have this to look at!

Sweeeeeeeeet.... now that it's sorted, I need another ride

I'm very interested in the interior exhaust note compared to the stock setup last time I had a ride.

Extremely impressive numbers!! This should satisfy your fix until the Camaro is completed!!

Thanks guys. Need to get it to the track. Thing is it pulls so evenly with the broad torque range it does not feel FAST. Hard to explain. It should go low 11's, there's even a few in the 10's with that power level, but that would take some chassis changes. This is my truck, so other than bolting on some slicks and maybe a different set of rear shocks I'm not going to turn it into a drag truck.

I may not have been happy with the original gas mileage either, but if you did all that work and did not lose any mileage, that sounds like a positive outcome to me.
