I came up with the game plan

OK so here it is: L92 heads with comp springs, stock L92 truck manifold, Corvette filter for the return, Edelbrock 4 bolt 90mm throttle body (cable actuated) ,214/224 cam @.050 high 500 to low 600 lift on a 114-116 LSA, possible 6L80E trans swap , 2001 and up full floater 14 bolt with 11.5 ring gear, 2001 and up HD frame back half, and some comp lifters. I need to put more research into some parts but for the most part its factory GM parts. I am going to contact Truckin and see if they want to do a article on how to get 500+ hp out of your 99+ 6.0 vortec truck. I want to keep this truck looking stock for the most part. Since I last posted I put a ton of new parts on the truck, such as: steering wheel, rubber work mat (instead of my old carpet), new tail lights (OE), new power steering pump, hydro boost, master cylinder, steering shaft, denali Gauge cluster swap (which looks awsome),Vertical GM HD mirrors, new under hood light, new infinity speakers (stock head unit though), new tires, new coolant recovery tank, new heater core quick disconnects.

New Lq9 crate , stainless exhaust with V bands and Dynatech headers , new radiator, new hoses, new cooler lines, new motor mounts, re manufactured alternator, new steering box, new A arms ( cant get ball joints or bushings for this truck) new steering gear, rebuilt the Rear end with 4.11's/Eaton Posi, scored a set of aluminum HD wheels, new rotors and pads (Originals went 170k and still had some meat left) class 5 hitch, new 2200 stall, new O/2 sensors my own custom tune and thats about it, scored a used bed for 1k, all of this was done from April-June of 2008. I did all these improvements with some of the little spare time I had, mind you I was building the GTO at the same time.

The truck was a pest control truck my father used everyday until december of 2007, that's when I got it.

LS3 heads were ordered today for the GMC, LS3 heads feature sodium filled valves and upgraded springs and are identical to L92 Heads otherwise. The list consist of L92 intake manifold, nick williams 92mm TB Ls3 heads and reusing my 214/218 cam, its a good all around truck cam.

I will see what this combo makes for power, I hope it is good.

I am saving my Old Lq9 heads for my Lq4 Shortblock. That Lq4 is going in a 65 Lemans convertible for my dad rebuilding it soon. Its the old motor out of my truck, were giving a second lease on life, as a fun motor and not a work horse.

Port the Lq9 heads and LS2 manifold, 92mm Nick Williams throttle body, 224/230 grind cam on a 114LSA, not sure what i am going to do with the bottom end.

Thanks.....It has been sub-framed from a '78 buick regal with the 10 bolt rear-end from the same donar car, front and rear sway bars, 5spd trans, 327 engine with double hump heads tilt column and buckets from a van. Not a show piece but really fun to drive..gets alot of attention.

Thanks, I did. I got my timing prefect, a rain storm was just blowing in so I had the nice shadows i the background but I still had plenty of light right over the top of me that's why all the little dew and water showed up so well. Of course I was packing up in the rain trying to drive a 600+ HP truck home on fun wet roads :unibrow: it was fun.

Recently bought a truck :D . Has already been very handy, though not in the ways that I had expected so far :rolleyes: .

It is a 2000 Silverado. 5.3L/4L60E with the 3.42 G80 locking differential. It keeps eyeing the 6.0L LQ4 that I have for the '56 though :_paranoid .

Before I bought it.

Some of my buddies like to give me a hard time saying that a 2WD RCSB doesn't qualify as a truck, but nobody can say that I don't use it like a truck. In front is the eight stumps pulled from our yard, and the shovel in the back is for unloading one of the five tons of dirt we have gotten with it.

Look for a Burb or Denali to rob the leather from. You will love the additional padding that the OEM leather seats have.Yeah, that's what I loved about my '96 GMC Z71, the seats were COMFY. If I can't find any either locally or in So Cal, I might get some cloth buckets and take them somewhere for custom leather and more padding.

24's might be a bit large for an OBS. I think 20's or 22's max. What about some 22" Budnik Arrowheads? :unibrow: I think 24's out back look sweet, but I know I'd have to cut like crazy to stuff 'em up front. I figure a nice 24/22 setup will be perfect, plus I want to give it a little hotrod rake and still have the wheels sorta tucked in the back. Who knows, it looks right in my mind, I'll have to get some renderings made to really feel it out.

Hello,

This is my first post here. Not sure if my truck fits this thread. It's not a tow vehicle or parts hauler for a shop. But it is sort of a ProTouring Shop Truck for lack of a better description. If anyone has a better name for it I am all ears.

http://gustave.smugmug.com/Trucks/56-F-100/DG-F100-1/1235269494_4wtTL-XL.jpg

Although it is far from finished, here is the description so far:

Reinforced frame with truck arms and custom front IFS w/ cross-over bar
Fronts shocks = 20”QA1 6773
Rear shocks = Bilstein
Springs = 300lbs/in front, 200lbs/in rear
Brakes = Wilwood, 14” rotors up front w/ 6 piston SLR6 calipers, Wilwood under-hung pedal cluster with two Tilton master cylinders and balance bar
Engine = Ford Racing S347JR (350hp, 400ftlbs)
Transmission = reworked C4
Rear End = Ford 12” with Speedway Engineering lightweight housing and Truetrac limited slip
Front axles moved forward 4 inches with reworked fender openings
Rear fenders widened by 1.5 inches
Wheels = Wheelsmith Aluminum Smoothies. 17”x8” front (20.5lbs), and 17”x9.5” rear (21.5lbs)
Tires = Diamond Back Whitewalls = 255/60-17 front and 275/60-17 rear
Steering = Flaming River quick ratio power rack with KRC PS pump and remote reservoir

During the initial build I put a premium on keeping the truck as light as possible, with a wide torque curve. Making it easy to drive on the street and good for auto-x. Moving the front axles forward, and moving the engine back by massaging the firewall helped with weight distribution. The #1 cylinder is behind the front axle centerline.

I have additional things planned like aluminum bumpers and lightweight aluminum bucket seats. The interior will be aircraft inspired (WWII era).

http://gustave.smugmug.com/Trucks/56-F-100/rear-frame-area-43/1235266995_DH9qq-XL.jpg

I waffled for a long time about going with traditional looking wheels vs. more modern wheels with lower profile tires. For now I decided to keep the whitewall look while adding as much performance as possible.

More to come as things progress.
